A stucco-finished block side wall on wire lath and felt, insulated and furred inside.
Layers, in order
| # | Layer | Thickness | Spacing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stucco finish | 3/4 in | |
| 2 | Wire lath | 1/8 in | |
| 3 | Building felt | 1/16 in | |
| 4 | 10 in block and mortar | 9 5/8 in | |
| 5 | Grout and reinforcing | 6 5/8 in | at 24 in o.c. |
| 6 | 2 in closed-cell spray foam | 2 in | |
| 7 | 2 1/2 in furring studs | 2 1/2 in | at 16 in o.c. |
| 8 | 1/2 in FC60 gypsum board | 1/2 in |
Build steps
- Lay the block (Mason). Flashing and weep vents at the base course, then the block in mortar, course by course.
- Reinforce and grout (Mason). Joint reinforcement as the block rises, bars in the cells, bond beam, grout.
- Felt the outside face (Plasterer). Felt lapped from the bottom up so water sheds outward.
- Fasten the lath (Plasterer). Galvanized lath through the felt.
- Apply the stucco (Plasterer). Scratch, brown and finish coats.
- Frame the furring (Framer). Tracks and furring studs off the wall.
- Spray the foam (Insulator). Closed-cell foam sprayed in place.
- Hang the board (Drywall). Board screwed to the studs, ready for tape and paint.
Materials per 100 sf of wall
From the takeoff of Setout's sample building, across every wall of this type on the typical floors, after doors and windows are cut out. Use it to sanity-check a bid, not as a substitute for a takeoff.
